Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony will be held at the City Hall of Maastricht (map) on Wednesday June the 15th, 17.30-19.30. The mayor of Maastricht Onno Hoes, the rector Magnificus prof. Dr. Gerard Mols and André Rieu, Ambassador of ild care foundation, will welcome you on behalf of the City of Maastricht, of the University of Maastricht, and of the ild care foundation. Brigitte Heitzer, a famous Dutch musical singer, will sing the congress song of the WASOGBAL meeting 2011. There will be a reception with drinks and you can enjoy the City Hall and company of your ild friends. All participants and their accompanying persons are invited!

 


 

Congress Party

The congress party will be held on Friday June the 17th, 19.00-23.30, at an unique location in the Old Centre of Maastricht: Selexyz Dominicans, a magnificent bookstore (map). Since autumn 2006 Selexyz Dominicans bookstore resides in the ancient Dominican church in Maastricht. Two hundred years ago the church lost its religious function, and has had many functions since then, including service as a snake house, bicycle parking lot and carnival temple. Architects Merkx + Girod designed the special interior of Selexyz Dominicans. Selexyz Dominicans has a broad and deep range of public books and books for professionals. This store was number 1 in the top 10 of nicest bookstores in the world in The Guardian.

Awards


During this party 4 Award Winners will be announced:

  • FSR Abstract Awards for Excellence in Sarcoidosis Research -Two outstanding abstracts accepted for presentation related to research in the inflammatory disease sarcoidosis will be chosen through the WASOGBAL meeting.
  • Dutch Sarcoidosis Society (SBN) Abstract Award for Excellence in Dutch Sarcoidosis Research - One outstanding abstract presented by a Dutch researcher related to sarcoidosis will be awarded.
  • Dutch Pulmonary Fibrosis Society Award for Excellence in Dutch Pulmonary Fibrosis Research - One outstanding abstract presented by a Dutch researcher related to pulmonary fibrosis will be awarded.

Guided City Walk for accompanying persons

To get to know the ancient centre of the City of Maastricht the Maastricht Tourist Information organises a guided City Walk. This City Walk will be on Thursday June 16th at 11.00 hrs.  There is a limit of 20 persons. The starting point of the City Walk is the Jodenstraat at the back entrance of the Tourist Information Office (address: Kleine Staat 1, Maastricht).
